Camping: Who, what, where, when, why & cost/food
WHO: Labor advocates, community, social and union activists-and YOU!
Labor activists, community activists and allies are invited; spread the word to your contacts. This is an inclusive event for people that are interested in bettering the world via collective action - who do you know that is into that? ;) There is an unlimited number of spots for people to come by for hangtime/training/programming/during the day. For those spending the night, there are currently about 30 sleeping spots. If you're planning to spend the night, say so as soon as you are able in order to have a sleeping spot earmarked for you. WHERE: Camp Ojiketa in Chisago City, MN.
Address: 27500 Kirby Avenue, Chisago City, MN. Camp Ojiketa, Camp spot/cabin reservation - Pay... Ojiketa Regional Park Map 07.2012 Gathering Bld... This is a campground owned/operated by Chisago City, a municipal campground. With this, no permit/park sticker is needed for entry. There was prior interest/investigation into camping at a Minnesota state park (like Interstate), but this plan was scrapped due to limited availability of campsites near eachother/requirement to purchase park permits. Tent spots 10-12 have been reserved, these are single-tent sites. Who has a tent(s)? Cabins 5 6 (Red Oak and Sugar Maple) have also been reserved. We also have another 8 - person cabin reserved that has plumbing. After a long discussion with the campground's administration, I am confirming the final 8-person cabin number before posting. Please see attached map of the campground for details. If you have an indication of where you would like to sleep/people you'd like to bunk with, let myself know as soon as you are able. We will try to honor sleeping arrangement requests as much as possible. HOW: We're aiming to attain the above via time spent together doing service work, relaxing and taking part in a training while enjoying time in the great outdoors.
Minnesota Young Workers and allies/collaborators have decided upon completing 2 hours of community service-work midday on Saturday. Think park pick-up/roadside trash clean-up. Following the service-work the plan is for a rendezvous with local press to capture our outreach/good deeds... Positive press! The news will just love a story like this. When completed, service work is to be followed-up by an evening of relaxing, camping fun. COST: Young workers' camping is being funded by Minnesota Young Workers.
FOOD: Contributions to eats from Minnesota Young Workers and you.

WHAT: Casual networking and training over a campfire.
The purpose of camping is to reinforce and make new the Labor connections. As we come from different places, with different occupations and varied experiences in the Labor movement, it is incredibly important that our Labor networks' relationships strengthen and grow. The Young Workers' Camping experience is an opportunity to build relationships with one-another, because Solidarity is built via connections and relationships. Direct yourself to the HOW below for how we're going to attain this WHAT :D -Essential list of WHAT to bring here-WHEN: July 10-12, 2015: Friday afternoon-Sunday noon/early afternoon.
